Buck Pike is near the village of Coniston in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria.
James Bartholomew RSMA has worked as a contemporary landscape and seascape painter since 1992. He is well known for his ‘loose and energetic’ style, which he uses strong light and colour.
“I am fascinated by the interplay between a subject and light and how changing weather can alter the essence of something so completely.”
In 2002, he became a full member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists and received many rewards, including the Kenneth Denton Award for his painting ‘Atlantic Blue 4’ (RSMA Annual Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London, October 2018).
James exhibits regularly at the Federation of British Artists’ society shows. His work is found in both private and corporate collections around the world. He has also done work for Waitrose, Winalot, BBC, The Sunday Times,and the British Tourist Authority.
