Framed original oil painting of a countryside landscape in Summertime with wild flowers and Friesian cows in the distance. Signed in the lower right corner by the artist, Mervyn Goode.
Mervyn Goode was born in England, in 1948. He studied Landscape Architecture at Gloucestershire College of Art, but he left this profession at 21 to become a landscape painter.
Mervyn Goode would find inspiration for his paintings from walking in the countryside near where he lived.
In recent years, he moved to a 16th Century cottage in the village of Slapton, in the South Hams area of Devonshire. Since living here, he has broadened his subject matter and experimented with his own style of painting.
His influences are great landscape artists such as Constable and also the French Impressionists – Sisley, Monet and Pissarro. Although he absorbs these influences, he has developed his own style which is recognisably his own.
He exhibited in 1970 in London, which was a huge success. His work was then highly sought after from collectors from around the world.
