Mike Briscoe was born in 1960 in North Wales, where he still lives and works. He studied at Wrexham College of Art and Sheffield College of Art and later graduated in 1981. His work is well known for his technique in realistic painting. A lot of his paintings show a sense of stillness, with sunlight casting into an empty café or interior scene. Much similar to to mood of the American realist painter, Edward Hopper.
Mike Briscoe has had a number of solo shows but has also exhibited in the London Picadilly Gallery, Paris, Germany and the USA, as well as the RA summer exhibitions where he was also a Stowls prize winner. He is also a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy.
