About John Strevens
John Strevens (1902-1990) was born in London and studied at Heatherley’s School of Fine Art but was largely self-taught.
He was a successful portrait artist and would often use his wife or children as models for his paintings. In the 1960’s, he became well known for his oil paintings of children and flowers. Many of his paintings were also made into prints.
John Strevens regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Paris Salon.
Two of Strevens’ paintings are in the collection of the British Council.
