Etching signed by Sir William Russell Flint, framed with a distressed silver leaf frame and Museum Glass™ which eliminates reflection and up to 99% of UV rays.
Flint was born in 1880 in Edinburgh. He was a Scottish artist and illustrator and is considered one of the most celebrated British watercolourists of the 20th Century due to his remarkable attention to detail and precision. Flint was a member of the Royal Academy for many years and president of the Royal Watercolour Society for twenty years.
He is well known for his watercolours but he also painted in oil and tempera, and produced etchings.
In 1947 Flint exhibited in his own solo show at the Royal Academy, in the same year he was knighted for his services to art. Flint focused on a range of subject matter including the landscapes of Europe. However he primarily painted the female form. Today Flint’s work is exhibited in numerous institutions around the world including the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.
