Artist Biography
Limited edition etching (13/75) , signed by the artist Simon Palmer in the bottom right corner. Finished with an oak veneer frame and an off-white mount.
Born in Yorkshire in 1956, Simon Palmer has carved out a singular place in British art with his atmospheric, almost dreamlike interpretations of rural life. After completing his studies at Reigate Art School in 1977, he steadily built a career defined by craftsmanship, consistency, and a deep emotional connection to the English landscape. His ten solo exhibitions in London reinforced his reputation for turning familiar countryside scenes into something quietly extraordinary.
Palmer’s achievements include winning the Turner/Winsor & Newton Watercolour Award in 2007. His work has appeared in notable group shows—from the National Trust’s centenary celebration to Crane Kalman Gallery’s survey of twentieth‑century British landscape painting—placing him firmly within the lineage of artists who elevate rural Britain into fine art.
Today, his paintings reside in both private and public collections, including the National Trust, and Council for the Protection of Rural England, where his vision of the countryside continues to resonate with viewers who find beauty in the quiet, the pastoral, and the timeless.
