Artist Biography
Oil Painting signed by the artist, Steven Scholes. Finished with a Golden and Black Frame and an off-white slip.
Steven Scholes is a Lancashire artist, born in 1952. His talent was recognised in 1974 when he won the Manchester Evening News Art Competiton as just an amateur painter. His work was selected over professional artists who also entered the competition. Spurred on by this recognition Scholes began to paint more frequently and demand for his work increased. By 1978 Scholes was able to sustain a full-time professional painting career.
Scholes’ work is primarily inspired by his memory of his Grandfather’s appreciation for Victorian and Edwardian architecture, this sense of nostalgia is visibly present within each piece of his art. Scholes continues to a highly sought after artist, by both public and private collectors across the country.
