Robert Chailloux, born in 1913, was a French still life painter. Chailloux developed his artistic skills at the the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. It was here he began specialising in still life painting and was inspired largely by the Dutch Vanitas style. Chailloux’s earlier work primarily featured vases, fruits, flowers, and silverware, perched atop a wooden table. However, in his later years he began incorporating a greater variety of objects such as figurines, and musical instruments in a cooler, more vibrant colour scheme. Chailloux exhibited internationally before his death in 2006, including at the Hermitage in Leningrad and the Pushkin in Moscow in 1975, much of his work was eventually acquired by the city of Paris and the Museum of the Ile-de-France.
