About Emil Albert Krause
Emil Albert Krause was born in Biesdorf, Germany 1866 died in 1922. Youngest son of the painter Franz Krause and his wife Johanne Stock. The family with 5 siblings moved to England circa 1876/1878. Emil after living in Manchester then came to Birkdale, Southport, but often spent time with Franz who had moved to North Wales. He is well known for his scenic watercolours of the North of England and Scotland.
Krause began painting in the southern counties and Wales gradually moving North first falling in love with the English Lakes and then Scotland. At about the time of the First World War he changed his name to Stock.
He exhibited between 1891-1914 at the Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, Royal Cambrian Academy and Manchester City Art Gallery.
