About Norman Thelwell
Norman Thelwell (1923-2004) was an English cartoonist well known for his humorous illustrations of ponies and horses. He studied at the Liverpool College of Art before taking up a career teaching art and design himself at the Wolverhampton College of Art. Whilst teaching Thelwell pursued his artist career in his free time, it was during this time he had his first cartoon published in Punch magazine. After six years of teaching Thelwell decided to pursue a freelance career, illustrating regularly for print publications and achieving nationwide acclaim.
