Gudrun Sibbons was born in Germany in 1929. She studied art in her youth and continued to do so until she became a nurse in the War, she began to paint professionally in the 1950s. Sibbons primarily paints landscapes, working in oils, in a distinctive continental style having been influenced by the Dutch Masters as a young girl. Her work often depicts, in great detail, agricultural, coastal & river scenes, her skies have been compared to Turner’s, as a result of her use of light and ability to evoke emotion.
